Conoce a Chicago: Little Village Art Fesitval

By Elizabeth Reinhardt

¡Bienvenidos to October’s Conoce a Chicago! October is Chicago Artists Month, a celebration of art and artists that add to Chicago’s cultural scene. In observation of both this month-long event and the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, on October 6 PACO braved the Chicago Marathon traffic to check out the Little Village Art Festival.

With the help of Villarte, an arts coalition dedicated to promoting Little Village’s local artists, the Festival ran for its seventh year October 5-7, 2012. This year’s theme was “Art Block by Block” to demonstrate the impact that artists have on every neighborhood. Walking through the galleries was delightful – artwork from artists of all levels was on display, including less-traditional art such as crocheted hats and scarves.

The colorful event added to the already vibrant atmosphere of Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.
